To reduce the incidence of postoperative symptoms such as swelling, bleeding, impaired blood clotting, and drug interactions, it is recommended that you discontinue the use of health supplements, traditional Chinese medicine, and tonics for 2-3 weeks before and after surgery. The following ingredients are recommended to be discontinued 2-3 weeks before and after surgery.
  1. Health food products:

Ginkgo, fish oil, natto, rhodiola rosea, red yeast rice, propolis, flaxseed, green tea, turmeric, seaweed/brown algae, papain, ostrich extract, maca, vitamin E, St. John's wort, hypericum, etc.

 

  1. traditional Chinese medicine:

Ginseng, Angelica sinensis, deer antler, chicken blood vine, white peony root, red peony root, salvia miltiorrhiza, chuanxiong rhizome, safflower, motherwort, sappanwood, hawthorn, cinnamon, eleutherococcus senticosus, agrimony, tortoise and deer antler glue, American ginseng, pine bark, coix seed, cordyceps, etc.

 

  1. tonic:

Guilinggao (turtle jelly), medicinal cuisine, mutton hot pot, sesame oil chicken, ginger duck, bak ku teh (pork rib tea), ginseng chicken soup, garlic chicken soup, medicinal pork rib stew, Siwu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction), Bazhen Tang (Eight-Treasure Decoction), Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten-Ingredient Tonic Decoction), Yundun Gen Tang (Active Root Decoction), postpartum meals, lactation tea, medicinal dietary supplements, etc.

 

  1. Prescription drugs(Please consult your attending physician before discontinuing medication. If you are taking any medications before surgery, please inform your treating physician and anesthesiologist two to three weeks in advance.)

It is recommended to consult separately before the procedure, as the brand names of drugs launched or imported are changed every year, resulting in a large number of different names that are difficult to cover. Additionally, there are compound drugs containing different ingredients, which may have different names. Common medications include Coumadin (Warfarin), Xarelto (Rivaroxaban), Pradxa (Dabigatran), Eliquis (Apixaban), and Lixiana (Edoxaban). Please inform your treating physician and anesthesiologist about any other medications you may take.

 

 

If you have other prescription medications or drugs that promote circulation that you regularly use, please inform your treating physician and anesthesiologist two to three weeks in advance to ensure the smooth progress of the treatment.
