Common nose shapes that need correction

bulbous nose

A bulbous nose, also known as a wax apple nose or fleshy nose, is characterized by a bulbous nose tip that lacks definition and is quite thick, resulting in an imbalance between the width of the nose and the bridge of the nose.
Reasons for correcting bulbous noses: Modern aesthetics tend to favor long, straight noses, and bulbous noses can make facial features appear overly crowded.
Bulbous nose surgery: Thinning or removing excess skin and soft tissue from the tip of the nose, reducing the size of the alar cartilage and adjusting the size of the nostrils. When the bridge of the nose is too wide or too long, the nose can be made more delicate and beautiful through nasal bone tapping and nasal reconstruction surgery.

Saddle nose

A saddle nose is characterized by a flat bridge and a U-shaped depression in the middle, resembling a saddle. In some cases, it may also be accompanied by a short bridge, an upturned nose, or a soft, flat tip.
Reasons for saddle nose correction: Saddle nose significantly affects the appearance of the nose.
Saddle nose surgery: Depending on the degree of depression in the nasal tip and bridge, ear cartilage, nasal septum cartilage, or rib cartilage (autologous or allogeneic) can be used for reconstruction. The improvement of saddle nose involves reconstructing and strengthening the nasal bridge skeleton, and if necessary, inserting an external nasal cartilage implant (Gore-Tex or second-generation Camera) to enhance the structural strength of the nasal bridge and tip.

Upturned nose

An upturned nose generally refers to a nose with excessively exposed nostrils. Structurally, an upturned nose has a short nasal tip, a large nasolabial angle, or excessively drooping nostrils.
Reasons for correcting a turned-up nose: A severely turned-up nose allows the nostrils to be seen when talking to others, which can be considered unpleasant. Additionally, in traditional physiognomy, exposed nostrils are also believed to negatively impact wealth.
Upturned nose correction: By adjusting the upward angle of the lower lateral cartilage of the nose, utilizing the extension of the end of the nasal septum cartilage, changing the rotation angle of the lower lateral cartilage, and adjusting the height of the nasal tip and bridge, the upturned nose can be corrected.

hooked nose

A hooked nose, also known as a nodular nose, is a type of human nose where the bridge of the nose protrudes significantly. Viewed from the side, the bridge of the nose has a curved shape, and the tip hooks slightly downwards, somewhat resembling an eagle's beak, hence the name "hooked nose."
Reasons for correcting a hooked nose: Hooked noses are relatively uncommon among East Asians, so they look noticeably different and may cause problems in some situations. In addition, traditional physiognomy describes hooked noses as indicating a person who is "stoic and treacherous by nature and prone to extremes." If one encounters superiors or elders who judge people based on physiognomy, it may affect one's self-esteem.
Rhinoplasty for hooked noses: In cases of hooked nose correction, the nose is often disproportionately long. When adjusting a hooked nose through rhinoplasty, it is necessary to remove excess nasal bone, nasal septum cartilage, and lower lateral nasal cartilage. The curvature of the lower lateral nasal cartilage also needs to be adjusted to create the ideal shape.

Hump nose

A hump nose refers to a nose with an uneven ridge on the bridge, and it can be divided into two types: true and false hump noses.
Reasons for correcting a hump nose: A hump nose significantly affects the appearance of the nose.
Hump nose surgery:
True hump nose / If the hump is small, it can be smoothed out directly with a bone-grinding file. Correction of larger hump requires more complex surgical techniques and professional experience to avoid widening of the entire nasal bridge or even collapse of the nasal bridge.
Pseudo-hump nose / Reconstructing the strength of the nasal septum and nasal tip cartilage while preserving the hump, resulting in a smoother and more aesthetically pleasing nasal bridge.
