There are three key differences between teardrop-shaped and disc-shaped breast prostheses:

1. Three-dimensional teardrop shape: The upper half is a smooth, raised arc, while the lower half is a full, round shape. After the breast prosthesis is implanted, the junction between the upper edge of the breast and the rib cage is natural and smooth, and the breast shape is close to the ideal breast. In particular, for breast atrophy caused by pregnancy and breastfeeding, the upper chest tissue becomes thin, or there is slight breast ptosis. The teardrop-shaped breast prosthesis can fill the deficiency of the upper chest without appearing too abrupt. With appropriate selection of the convexity, it can also lift and stand the nipple, and make the lower chest full.

Second, it stands firm and does not deform because its contents are highly cohesive silicone. When standing, the upper edge can maintain the shape of a teardrop and will not collapse or wrinkle, forming water ripples on the surface. Its lower edge can also stably bear tissue pressure and support the full curve outward even under tight skin. For people with small breasts, tight tissue, and a short distance from the nipple to the lower edge of the breast, the teardrop shape can be considered to create a full and rounded lower hemisphere.
